The Role 

As our Laboratory Manager, you will:

• Oversee Laboratory Operations: Ensure all laboratory activities comply with NATA accreditation requirements and relevant ISO/Australian/NZ standards.
• Lead and Develop the Team: Manage and mentor a dedicated team of laboratory staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Perform Laboratory Analysis: Conduct asbestos fibre counting and material bulk identification, providing NATA-endorsed reports.
• Quality Assurance: Complete internal audits, risk assessments, and participate in Quality Control and Proficiency Testing programs.
• Innovate and Improve: Develop and enhance the laboratory’s capabilities, efficiency, and explore opportunities for new services to boost revenue and profitability.

Our Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

• Relevant degree in environmental science, engineering, laboratory technology, or equivalent experience.
• Current unrestricted Driver’s Licence.

Experience:

• Analysis and reporting to NATA standards is a minimum requirement.
• Experience in a NATA-accredited lab conducting asbestos bulk identification (AS 4964) and fibre count analysis.
• Previous laboratory management experience (preferred).

Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of NATA accreditation requirements and laboratory quality management systems.
• Knowledge of asbestos regulations, safety protocols, and associated standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
