Environmental Consultant – Newcastle, NSW
About the role:
ENV Solutions is seeking an Environmental Consultant—mid-level or an ambitious junior ready to step up—to join our growing Newcastle office. In this role, you will deliver environmental consulting services to a diverse range of clients across various industries, gaining hands-on experience and developing specialised expertise in Contaminated Land or Occupational Hygiene. What you’ll be doing:
- Planning and delivering field programs (e.g. soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, air monitoring, asbestos survey, hazardous materials survey) under the guidance of seniors and principals
- Delivering projects including tracking project budgets, timelines, and scope to ensure successful completion
- Preparing high-quality technical reports and presentations
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated environmental solutions
- Contributing to the preparation of proposals and tenders for new opportunities
- Maintaining strong client relationships and serving as a point of contact for assigned tasks
- Staying up-to-date with the latest environmental regulations, policies and industry trends
- Learning from and supporting more experienced staff, gaining expertise in contaminated land or occupational hygiene practices
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of ENV Solutions’ offerings and processes

Environmental Consultants:
- Tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering, or related discipline
- 2+ years of experience in environmental consulting role or similar
- Strong skills in planning and carrying out contaminated land assessments and investigations
- Proven technical capability with hands-on field experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of clear, concise technical reports
- Demonstrated project management or Coordination experience, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of NSW contaminated land legislation (e.g., NEPM, PFAS NEMP, ANZG), with enthusiasm to expand this knowledge
- Some experience in assisting with fee proposals and stakeholder engagement (clients, regulators, etc.)
- Proficiency in using relevant software tools (e.g. data analysis, reporting)
- Full, current Australian Driver’s Licence (issued by any state or territory)
Occupational Hygiene Consultants:
- Tertiary qualification in occupational hygiene, environmental science, or a related discipline
- 2+ years of practical experience in occupational hygiene assessments and consulting
- Sound skills in conducting occupational hygiene assessments and surveys (e.g. air monitoring, noise assessments, and hazardous materials surveys)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of clear, concise technical reports
- Demonstrated project management or Coordination experience, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience assisting with fee proposals and stakeholder engagement (clients, regulators, etc.)
- Proficiency in using relevant software tools (e.g. data analysis, reporting)
- Familiarity with relevant occupational health and safety legislation and guidelines
- Full, current Australian Driver’s Licence (issued by any state or territory)
Bonus Skills:
Although not essential, the following would be valuable in your role with ENV:
- Understanding of NSW contaminated land management legislation and waste management framework.
- GIS capabilities (GPS sampling grids, groundwater contours, site plans, and maps).
- Industry association accreditations.
- Licensed Asbestos Assessor (LAA).
- Membership with professional bodies such as the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH).
